Maicy's Broken Arm

To split hairs, it's not exactly broken. The wrist was shoved towards the elbow with such force, her forearm buclked outwards.

Yippee we're doing the Top Ten again!

THANKS, Sandra for the kick in the pants and thanks Dawn for the topic

TOP TEN THINGS I LOVE ABOUT SCHOOL STARTING.....

1) OK the obvious? Having only one child to entertain.

2) Having more time to be at the computer working (etc) during the day instead of cramming it in after betime.

3) Early bedtimes!!

4) Thursdays...when Maicy is at school, Em is at school, I don't work that day. I am at home. ALL ALONE. Did I mention I am ALL ALONE??!!??! ALONE! (that's a Big Hint.)

5) That Larch and Em are gone and I can hang out and do "grown up" things with myneighboraacrossthestreet instead of doing MOM things together.

6) Having 3-4 extra kids at my house after school. That's when they're ready to talk and I hear alllllll about their days. Fun!

7) That Em is finally going to the school that we've been wanting to get in her into since she was FOUR! FINALLY!

8) Maicy is asleep in the afternoons which means that time is ALL MINE. I can do whatever I want, provided it's in the house. Watch The Hills (because Jeff DIES when I turn that on), watch Paranormal State (but I prefer to save this for nights when I'm all alone) take a long bath, lay in bed...talk online...lay in bed again...talk online again and then want to be laying in bed again but kids are home and May is awake...ahhh quiet time.

9) OK I am out...

10) Of ideas.

Charlie!!! (and the Children's Museum, too)

I caved....we got a dog. For our 15 year anniversary, Jeff suggested a trip to the shetler. I went up there thinking to myself "I will ONLY get an adult Chocolate Lab". Knowing full well there would not be such a dog at a shelter.

And then out came Brian. I knew as soon as I saw him, we had to have him. So, we brought him home. We were on the fence about the name Brian. We figured we'd have to explain the Family Guy reference to just about everyone (well, except for my cousins, who work as cartooners for the Family Guy). So, we decided on Charlie. As in Charlie Brown, Char Dog, Charlie Horse, so on...

He's a skinny thing. He also refused to eat, until I fed him a Wendy's Single, and that kick started his appetite. The vet said he'd better eat soon or else he'd be facing IV fluids. Ugh, that'll be cheap.

In just a few days since that photo was taken, he's put on enough ounces to hide his ribcage.

I'm pretty sure he's Bubba, reincarnated.

And here's a shot of him just hangin' around.

On the other hand, we went to the Children's Museum today, with the kids getting into the face paint:

And, finally, Spaghetti Cat, just for Bethany:

God that's funny stuff.

One big update...

OK ok , so here it is. Where have I been? BUSY. Let's see, since summer started, I've been camping twice, had house guests twice, went to South Dakota, went to WI Dells, spent the night downtown with friends, had a tiring week of VBS...and that's in additon to working what...FOUR jobs? So, that's what I haven't updated. So, here it is, all my summer pix in one big fat post!

First...my sister's shower in South Dakota. I don't have any really good pix of the shower, which was beautiful, but I did make sure to take a bunch of shots of the sock flower centerpieces my Mom and I made. They were so cool! And now Bethany has 36 socks for her new baby.

Next, here are some random flowers in my garden. Of course I don't have a full shot of my garden. These flowers are from seeds that my Mom sent Emily from Hawaii.

Except for this one....

Emily is visiting her grandparents, so she missed VBS. Here's Maicy on stage during the final program.

Crazy kid.

Here's a few shots of Emily and the big fish she caught! She's a great fisherman, she does it all on her own. Gets out the worm, chops it in 1/2, hooks it, casts, catches her fish, reels it in, but doesn't take it off. All of this is done SILENTLY. Very strange to watch.

Here's a picture of the table on our back deck that shattered when Emily and I were trying to install the new umbrella. Yikes!!

And becuase I couldn't resist...a picture that Emily took of her sister.

The Big Cut

Jeff says to me the other day..."I can't take it any longer, they're getting their haircut TONIGHT". I said it's not possible, my hairstylist from the salon is on sick leave. He says we're not waiting for the salon....we're going to GREAT CLIPS! GULP! But...they did a good job. Here's a bunch of pix.

Spring Break 2008

Well...surprise, surprise. We went to Arizona for Spring Break. Think I was going to say some where else? LOL. It's hard to pass up the free lodging and transportation, and my kids love it out there, so....AZ it is.

This year we took some friends who's never been to the desert southwest. They wanted to do the whole tourist thing, so we hit Sedona, the Grand Canyon, the ski resort, and of course a few Spring Training baseball games. The rest of the vacation was spent by the pool doing nothing. Quite uneventful all around.

Here's Paul, Colleen, Jacob, and Andrea in Sedona.

Here's the 4 of them plus me about to fall to our deaths in the Grand Canyon

And here's Emily and Andi just being silly in my parents garage.

That's it! That's all I have for you. Unless you want the 50 billion pictures that Jeff took of orange blossoms, cacti, and rocks. YAWN!
